Tempo in Music: BPM as Period

Music names the same quantity differently: tempo, measured in beats per minute (BPM).

A tempo of 120 BPM means one beat every 0.5 seconds — a period of half a second, a frequency of 2 Hz. A slow adagio at 60 BPM is a 1-second period, exactly the frequency of a resting heartbeat.

Tempo is simply frequency wearing a musician's name.
